Panagiotis graduated from the department of Informatics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2005. In 2007, he obtained his MSc degree in Communications Systems and Technologies. In the past, he has worked as a software engineer and participated actively in both the design and coding phases of custom-built ERP and CRM systems. Since 2009, he is a research associate of the Hellenic Institute of Transport, with main specialized areas the algorithm design and analysis and software development.
His professional and scientific background includes a wide knowledge on methods, languages and development tools (UML, ANSI-ISO C/C++, .NET Framework, etc.), excellent command of Relational Database Management Systems (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite), N-tier data application design and development, Geographic Information Systems (T-SQL Spatial, ESRI ArcGIS, GeoServer), web applications (JS and frameworks, CSS / HTML) and services (SOAP, RESTful) design and development, as well as the initial setup and continuous management of local networks’ architecture/infrastructure (Virtualization Technologies, Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux).
His current research interests include the management and processing methods of big data streams for mobility planning, multimodal planning algorithms design and software development and machine learning techniques for pattern recognition and prediction.
