
Maria Gkemou is a Research Director at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and Head of Clean and Autonomous Vehicles and of Industrial design, Intelligent Materials and Manufacturing in Transport labs. She is a Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineer from the Polytechnic school of the University of Patras in Greece as of 2003, with a PhD on driving behaviour modelling from the Transport Engineering Laboratory of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. Her main fields of expertise are Cooperative Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAΜ) and Physical and Digital Infrastructure (PDI) for CCAM, C-ITS, road safety, driving simulation, sustainable and clean mobility, field trials and training in transport field. She works at CERTH/HIT since 2003 and she has participated in more than 45 research projects overall, acting as administrative/technical and innovation Manager in 13 of them. She co-owns a patent and is author of more than 80 peer reviewed publications in International Conferences Proceedings, peer reviewed scientific journals and book contributions while she is co-editor in 5 books. She is/has been expert (evaluator/reviewer) in EU funded programmes (COAL & STEEL; H2020) and reviewer/judge in 10 scientific journals.
