The Institute of Sustainable Mobility & Transport Networks in collaboration with Transport Authority of Thessaloniki S.A. (ThetTA S.A.) as part of its participation in the European project UPPER (https://www.upperprojecteu.eu/), are conducting research on the controlled parking system in the city of Thessaloniki. One of UPPER’s objectives is to study whether the implementation of a dynamic way of pricing the parking spaces can contribute to reducing congestion on the streets of the center and therefore to improving the environment and serving citizens' needs more efficiently. Dynamic pricing means the change of parking costs based on parameters that are estimated in real time, such as for example the traffic in the city center.
