Vision:
To make HIT the main and integrated Research Pole in the fields of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Tourism in Greece and among the top 10 relevant nodes of technology and expertise in Europe.

STEP2CleanPlan project’s consortium visited the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) on Wednesday, May 28th. The purpose of the visit was to enhance participants’ knowledge and experience on topics related to Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) and logistics, as well as to familiarize them with HIT’s Smart Mobility Living Lab. The study visit was organized by Anatoliki S.A. Organization for Local Development (project partner).
STEP2CleanPlan project is financed by INTERREG NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme. It is a cross-border cooperation project related to capacity building and awareness as regards the climate change adaptation planning. Participants included representatives from the Municipality of Uzunköprü (Turkey), the Bionetwork Association, the Eco Cluster and Burgasbus organizations (Bulgaria), the District Government of Burgas, the Municipality of Tsarevo (Bulgaria), ANATOLIKI S.A. and the Municipalities of Kalamaria and Thermi.
During the visit, the following topics were presented:

• Introduction to the scope and role of HIT/CERTH, presented by Dr. Maria Morfoulaki, Operational Scientist A’ in HIT/CERTH.
• Presentation of the four phases involved in the development of a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), delivered by Dr. Kornilia-Maria Kotoula and Maria Chatziathanasiou, Transport Engineers and Research Associates in HIT/CERTH. The session was followed by an interactive quiz designed to help participants better understand SUMP’s key concepts.

• Presentation related to the integration of Sustainable Urban Logistics Plans (SULPs) into SUMPs, delivered by Mr. Orestis Tsolakis, Transport Engineer and Research Associate in HIT.

• Guided visit to the Smart Mobility Living Lab of HIT, where Dr. Jose Maria Salanova Grau, Transport Engineer and Head of Laboratory B2 – Data Analysis and Modelling, introduced the participants to the technologies used for traffic data collection and analysis and explained their application in innovative mobility solutions.
