The EPoSS Annual Forum - MNBS Annual Conference 2018
Smart Systems become more Intelligent
HIT IN THE HEART OF DECISION MAKING
The EPoSS Annual Forum and the MNBS Annual Conference 2018 took place with great success and major interest last week, on 16-17 and 18 October, hosted by ΗΙΤ (The Hellenic Institute of Transport of the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas - CERTH), the main Greek research organization in the field of Transport and widely recognized pan-European institution based in Thessaloniki.
The European technology platform EPOSS (European technology platform on smart systems integration) and the MNBS Annual Conference 2018 (Micro-Nano Bio-Systems) under the auspices of the European Commission, Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT), connected under one umbrella the representatives of European Union, major companies and educational institutions, aimed at exchanging views and technology.
As HIT Director, Dr. Evangelos Bekiaris said "HIT, the Greek member of EPoSS, as a carrier of innovation in the transport sector, gives priority to the financing of Greek enterprises, seeks the involvement of private and public bodies, as well as the collaborations of research institutions and enterprises".
During the three days it became clear that the integrated sensor systems are extremely heterogeneous and are nowadays a universal reality, especially in the transport sector. Particularly, minimizing their size and increasing the usage potential expands their integration as they obtain the ability to dynamically process the information and to receive and adapt more and more to the user’s profile, senses, needs and requirements. Cars, for example, are shifting from simple means of transport to integrated service systems, increasingly providing connectivity services including data, on-line alerts in case of emergency, track and passenger tracking and behavioral detection (human-diagnosis in view of autonomous driving), but even digital markets, advertisements, etc.
HIT has an important role of partner and protagonist in the EU funded development programs, emphasizing its major position for Greek research and economy.
