On June 19 & 20, 2019, HIT/CERTH participated in the 3rd Infrastructure and Transport Conference, which was hosted at the Athens Concert Hall. HIT was represented by Mr. Gogas Michael and Mr. Platanitis Sotiris, who presented the Institute's technological equipment, applications and services to the visitors and attendants of the Conference, emphasizing ODOS 2020 and ODYSSEAS (KRIPIS II) projects.
In addition to the presentation of HIT/CERTH’s research activities, Mr. Gogas, in the context of a private discussion, described to Mr. Hatzidakis (currently Minister of Environment and Energy of Greece) the innovation of the proposed solution and the importance of ODOS 2020 project towards the enhancement of road safety level on the national road network, as well as the socio-economic projections and prospects from the development and implementation of the respective applications and services of the project.
It was highlighted that through personalized information provided to the users of the integrated system (drivers and Traffic Management Centers), any type of road infrastructure could be upgraded to "smart - intelligent" and become responsive and forgiving in the prism of real time communication with the user, therefore increasing the level of road safety, as well as minimizing the corresponding operational costs through the incorporation of appropriate technology and Intelligent Cooperative Transport Systems (C-ITS).
