Vision:
To make HIT the main and integrated Research Pole in the fields of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Tourism in Greece and among the top 10 relevant nodes of technology and expertise in Europe.

On Monday, September 13, a delegation from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy visited HIT/CERTH, under the chairmanship of the Secretary General of the Aegean and Insular Policy Mr. M. Koutoulakis. A fruitful discussion took place on the issues of Maritime Transport, followed by a presentation of the progress on Memorandum of Understanding between HIT and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy. A team of representatives from HIT participated in the meeting under the chairmanship of the Director of HIT Dr. E. Bekiaris and the Director of the relevant Research Sector Dr. M. Boile.

The President of the Marine Chamber of Greece Dr. Pateras, the Rector of the University of Piraeus Prof. A. Kotios and the former President of Piraeus Port Authority as well as Thessaloniki Port Authority and Professor of CITY College Dr. S. Theofanis, together with Ms. Dritsa, Head of Unit A in the Special Management Service of the Ministry of Transport, Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development attended the meeting. Moreover, Mrs. Zoi Papassiopi (Head of the Special Service for the Management of the Operational Program Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development) and Mr. Vyron Kamparakis (DG REGIO) participated to the meeting online. The meeting reached substantial conclusions on the optimal layout of insular maritime transport, with an emphasis on nonprofit lines.
