Following the proposal of ECTRI Chairman Dr. E. Bekiaris
In the shadow of war in Ukraine, the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI) has made a decision to support the members of the organization, both financially and practically, aimed to help Ukrainian researchers and scientists that are forced out of their country because of the war, continue their work in the respective European Institutes, including in Greece.
The Chairman of ECTRI, Vice-Chairman of CERTH and Director of the Hellenic Institute of transport Dr. E. Bekiaris announced this during his interview to Ms. Christina Tsorba on VERGINA Television. This way, the scientists and researchers can continue their scientific career, while at the same time the European institutes have a chance to acquire valuable collaborators who will contribute to their work.
As mentioned by Dr. Bekiaris, who proposed this initiative in ECTRI, the Hellenic Institute of Transport will open three job positions for university professors or researchers from Ukraine; while around a hundred corresponding positions will open in respective European Institutes. At this moment, 20 European Institutes already confirmed their participation. Dr. Bekiaris emphasized that the condemnation of the war and the support to Ukraine becomes more practical, more specific and effective.
